Overnight, a huge fire at an Egyptian shipyard destroyed several fishing boats and recreational vessels.

Unexpectedly, the fire in the Adabiya area south of the Suez Canal started late on Thursday, January 30, 2025, and burned for around six hours before rescuers could put it out.

Emergency Aid & Reactions to Incidents

Reports from the local media state that fishing boats and recreational vessels were the primary uses of the shipyard region. Three individuals were transported to the hospital for treatment, while no fatalities were reported, according to Egyptian officials.

Additionally, officials said that the fire damaged at least ten fishing boats and other watercraft.

The presence of combustible materials at the shipyard hindered the efforts of Suez Governorate fire trucks who responded to the event.

Moreover, investigating the origin of the fire and the factors that contributed to its quick spread is underway. Early on Friday, January 31, a similar fire event happened in the "Ataka" area of Suez, according to a different account.
