Gas Safety - Understanding of Hydrocarbon Gases

Hydrocarbon gases are widely used, transported, and handled throughout the maritime, energy, and offshore industries. A strong understanding of gas properties, behaviour, and associated hazards is essential for personnel involved in gas-related operations to support safe working practices and effective risk control.

The Gas Safety – Understanding of Hydrocarbon Gases programme by LMA provides participants with a comprehensive foundation in hydrocarbon gas characteristics, hazard identification, safety principles, and operational controls. The course is aligned with relevant IMO requirements, including the principles of the International Code for the Construction and Equipment of Ships Carrying Liquefied Gases in Bulk (IGC Code), the International Code of Safety for Ships Using Gases or Other Low-Flashpoint Fuels (IGF Code), and applicable SOLAS safety principles. It equips participants with the knowledge required to recognise gas-related hazards and contribute effectively to safe maritime and industrial operations.
