Personnel working in maritime environments may face emergencies involving accidental immersion, person-overboard incidents, vessel emergencies, or other water-related hazards where immediate rescue assistance may not be available. Effective preparation, correct use of survival equipment, and appropriate survival actions are essential to improve survival outcomes.
The Water Survival Training (Non-STCW) programme by LMA provides participants with the essential knowledge and practical skills required to respond effectively during water emergencies, apply survival techniques, manage the effects of water exposure, and use personal survival equipment correctly. The programme reflects recognised maritime safety principles and supports the objectives of SOLAS Chapter III, ISM Code emergency preparedness requirements, and relevant IMO guidance, while remaining a supplementary non-STCW training programme.
