Port facilities operate within a complex maritime security environment where effective security depends not only on designated security personnel but also on the awareness and cooperation of all individuals working within the facility. Recognising security threats, following established procedures, and reporting suspicious activities are essential elements in maintaining a strong security culture.
The Security Awareness Training for All Port Facility Personnel programme by LMA provides participants with the knowledge required to understand maritime security principles, recognise potential threats, and contribute effectively to port facility security measures. The programme reflects internationally recognised maritime security requirements, including the principles of the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code, relevant provisions of SOLAS Chapter XI-2, IMO maritime security guidance, and port facility security best practices. This course is designed for personnel who are not assigned specific security duties but whose actions contribute to the overall security of the port facility as per the IMO Model course 3.25.
